Southern United

Southern United FC is a brand new club, with the 2022 CPL season being it’s first venture onto the pitch, ever. Southern United FC was formed by local players and supporters to provide a vehicle for the football community of the Great Lakes region to access FMNC/NCF’s highest level of senior men’s football – the Coastal Premier League. We believe that Southern United will help unify the sport in the south, whilst still helping maintain the community clubs in the region.

We view our position in the region as the club that will cater for the most aspirational players, players who have previously played at high levels elsewhere, or wish to progress on from community level senior football to a better level of the game. Southern United will actively encourage players to continue to participate in football at community club level, and will look to gradually increase its input into football development in the area as a whole.

Head Coach – Jonathon Newman

Jonathon Newman steps back into coaching after a season off, his first break in nearly 20 years. Having coached everything from Miniroos KickOff through to FMNC senior male and female representative teams, coaching in the CPL at a brand new club was a opportunity too good to turn down. “I’m really looking forward to it, a new playing group, the support of the town, and playing quality sides every week. Can’t wait!”
