Macleay Valley Rangers and Boambee Eagles battle for second spot

With the Coastal League One Women season closing in on its finals series, the Macleay Valley Rangers host the Boambee Eagles this weekend in a match which could decide second spot on the ladder.

The Eagles sit seven points clear of the Rangers in second spot on the ladder, and with just three rounds remaining need only one point to clinch second position heading into the finals.

The Eagles are coming off a 3-2 victory at home against the Coffs City Lionesses, while the Rangers had the bye in Round 17 and had a 3-0 loss to the Urunga Raiders prior to it.

The Eagles were 3-0 victors the last time the two teams played, with the Rangers 3-2 winners the last time they played at Rangers Park in Round 8.

The Sawtell Scorpions host the Coffs City United Lionesses on Saturday afternoon in their Round 18 fixture at Toormina Oval.

The Scorpions and Lionesses have had some close encounters this season, including a 2-1 victory by the Lionesses in Round 8, and both sides sharing the points in a 1-1 draw the last time the two teams met.

Both sides will look to bounce back from last losses last week, with the Scorpions losing to the Urunga Raiders and the Lionesses beaten by the Boambee Eagles.

Ladder leaders Urunga Raiders have the bye in Round 18.
