THE inaugural Coastal League One Women’s season is heading into its home stretch with Round 16 matches scheduled for Urunga and Kempsey this weekend.
Just five rounds remain before this year’s finals series, with teams jockeying for position with five points separating second and fourth.
Fresh off clinching this year’s premiership, the Urunga Raiders host the Coffs City United Lionesses on Saturday afternoon.
The Lionesses will look to become the first team to take points off the ladder leaders this season, as the Raiders go for their 12th win in a row.
The Raiders are coming off a 4-2 victory against the Boambee Eagles, while the Lionesses will look to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat to the Macleay Valley Rangers.
The Macleay Valley Rangers host the Sawtell Scorpions in a replay of the first ever Coastal League One Women match.
All three of the Rangers wins this season have come at their home ground of Rangers Park.
The Rangers will look to have back-to-back wins at home for the second time this season, as they play host to a Scorpions side looking to finish the season on a strong note and break through for their first win.
The Rangers and Scorpions played off in the inaugural game of the Coastal League One Women, sharing the points in a 0-0 draw at the Coffs Football Centre Synthetics in April.
The second-placed Boambee Eagles have the bye in Round 16.
