Urunga Raiders clinch premiership

The Urunga Raiders have clinched this season’s premiership as their season of dominance continued with a win over premiership rivals the Boambee Eagles, during the latest round of the Coastal League One Women season.

The Urunga Raiders and Macleay Valley Rangers both had wins at home during Round 15 of the Coastal League One Women season.

The Urunga Raiders won their 11th match in a row to start the season with a 4-2 victory at home against the Boambee Eagles in their top of the table encounter.

The win sees the Raiders clinch this season’s premiership, as they sit 16 points clear at the top of the ladder with five rounds to go until this season’s finals series.

The Macleay Valley Rangers moved into third spot on the ladder with a 3-0 victory against the Coffs City United Lionesses in Kempsey.

The Coastal League One Women season continues this weekend with the Urunga Raiders hosting the Coffs City United Lionesses, and the Macleay Valley Rangers hosting the Sawtell Scorpions.

The top four teams will now play off in the grand finals for the crown of 2022 Champions.

(In football, the team who finishes in first place are crowned premiers and the team who wins the grand final are crowned champions.)
