The quirk with the 2022 Coastal Premier League Men’s fixture list will be on show on Saturday when Macleay Valley tackle Bellingen for the second-straight game.
Rangers cruised to a 3-1 victory when the two teams met nine days ago before the Kempsey side had last week’s clash with Sawtell postponed.
Coach Jason Coleman was expecting a physical battle at Connell Park and despite being without a couple of key players he was confident of still grabbing a result.
“Every week that we’ve had a couple out I’ve brought a couple of blokes in and they’ve done the job quite sufficiently,” Coleman said.
“You’d like 40-odd players to have a bit of depth, but we have what we have and they’ve been outstanding.”
Rangers currently sit in third position on the back of three-straight wins.
Coleman, however, wasn’t getting comfortable with their lofty position with only four points separating them from eighth-placed Sawtell.
“There are still clubs that haven’t played all their rounds, but there’s some even behind us so every point is important… every point is important,” he said.
“You’ve got to win the big games too and Bellingen were up there at the start of the year, so you really want to make sure you make a statement and keep trouncing forward.”
Consistency has been one of Macleay Valley’s strong points this season and is one of the key reasons for their current ladder position.
The coach said a happy playing group was also important.
“You’ve just got to keep on repeating performances which is something that the boys didn’t do last year,” he said.
“It’s not an easy competition which is what you join the thing for.”
