A potential match of the season awaits this weekend, when the ladder leading Coffs City United Lions travel to take on fellow top four side Port United at Dixie Park.
The Lions are coming off a 1-1 draw with Northern Storm, which was the first time they didn’t get all 3 points in match this season, while Port United will look to make a statement as they try to become the first team to beat the Lions this season.
Round 16 of the Coastal Premier League also sees the Northern Storm hosting the Sawtell Scorpions in a critical match for both teams’ finals aspirations.
The Storm will be buoyed after becoming the first team to earn points against the Coffs City United this season, while the Scorpions have had two wins and a draw in their last three matches to sit inside the top 6.
The Coffs Coast Tigers host the Taree Wildcats on Saturday night, as the second-placed Tigers look to continue their recent stellar form which saw them win six straight matches before last week’s 2-2 draw with Port Saints.
Third-placed Bellingen hit the road to take on the Kempsey Saints, who are among a number of mid-table teams in a fight for a coveted finals spot.
The Boambee Bombers are also away from home for Round 16, when they take on top 6 side Macleay Valley Rangers who are coming off a 3-2 win against the Kempsey Saints.
The Port Saints host Southern United this weekend in a pivotal encounter between two teams just outside the top 6 on the ladder, in a classic ‘6 point-game’.
