Sawtell and Boambee meet in crucial mid-season match

THE Sawtell Scorpions and Boambee Eagles meet in a crucial mid-season match at Toormina Oval on Saturday afternoon, during the upcoming round of the Coastal League One Women season.

Both sides will look to kickstart their season after slow starts, with the Scorpions searching for their all important first win, while the Eagles go for win number two on the season.

The Eagles were 4-0 winners the last time the two teams played at the Coffs Football Centre synthetics.

Scorpions coach Graham Shanahan said his side were building towards their first win of the season.

“We have been competitive in every game and could have beaten Coffs or Macleay Valley,” he said.

“Because they are such a young side, we’re all about building momentum.

“Now it’s about turning good performances into results.”

The Coffs City United Lionesses hosted the Macleay Valley Rangers last weekend, with both sides sharing the points in a 2-2 draw.

The draw saw the Lionesses maintain their one-point lead over the Rangers in second spot.

The scheduled Round 10 match between the Boambee Eagles and Urunga Raiders was postponed to Sunday, 3 July at Ayrshire Park.

The Raiders now host the Macleay Valley Rangers, as the home side look to extend its 5-point lead at the top of the ladder and win their sixth match in a row.

The Raiders were 6-0 victors the last time the two teams played.

The Coffs City United Lionesses have the bye this weekend.
