Urunga Raiders win their fourth straight match to start the season

THE Urunga Raiders have continued their unbeaten start to the season in dominant fashion.
The Raiders won their fourth match in a row with a 9-0 victory against the Coffs City United Lionesses in Urunga, during the latest round of the Coastal League One Women season.

The Raiders sit at the top of the ladder with four wins from their first four matches, while the Lionesses remain in second spot with two wins.

Lionesses captain Jordan Maddalena said the Raiders had shown you had to be very prepared to play the ladder leaders.

“We had a few girls out with injuries and sickness, and we had to bring in some of the 16s girls to fill in for us and some second division players,” she said.

“It was a hard day at the office but it was an eye opener for us and now we know we can’t rock up to games unprepared for a tough battle.

“They’re a good team, and they play so well as a squad.”

The Macleay Valley Rangers recorded their first win of the season with a 4-0 victory at home against the Sawtell Scorpions in Kempsey.

The win sees the Rangers move into third spot on the ladder with one win and two draws for the season.

The Boambee Eagles had the bye in Round 6.
