Bellingen FC 3-2 Sawtell FC

BELLINGEN FC has made it a hat-trick of wins to start their first season in the Coastal Premier League.

But they didn’t have it all their own way in their 3-2 victory against the Sawtell Scorpions, as a second half comeback saw the Scorpions push Bellingen to the limit.

The win saw Bellingen FC maintain top spot on the ladder after Round 3, as a dominant first half saw them take a 3-0 lead into half-time at Toormina Oval.

Bellingen opened the scoring in the 18th minute courtesy of a penalty shot.

The visitors controlled the tempo and possession throughout the first half, showing why they sit at the top of the ladder.

Their control of general play paid off with a second goal after a great build-up, and they were in shortly after with both goals to Joe Pettit as Bellingen took a commanding lead into half-time.

Staring down the barrel of a 3-0 deficit, the Scorpions came out a different beast in the second half as they turned the game on its head.

The Scorpions were a completely different side in the second half as they played with a renewed vigour which caught Bellingen off guard.

Two goals from Duncan Couper had the Scorpions back in the match as they pushed for an equaliser until the very end, with Bellingen hanging on for a 3-2 victory.
