BELLINGEN FC have made a good start to their first ever season in the Coastal Premier League.
They sit at the top of the ladder after winning their first two matches of the season.
The Bats are the only team to win their opening two games, and are the early season ladder leaders sitting two points clear of Port United.
Bellingen FC made a great first impression in their inaugural CPL game beating Port Saints 5-1 in the opening round, and continued their winning form in beating Northern Strom 1-0 in the super round.
Bellingen coach Henry Gale said his players had noticed the difference stepping up from local second division.
“It’s a lot quicker paced, and we have to be a lot more sharper and more clinical with the ball,” he said.
“Back in the other leagues if you lose the ball you can get back and defend, but in the CPL they make you pay with a goal.”
Gale said his side had shown promising signs in their step up to the Coastal Premier League.
“We’ve created a lot of chances in both games, and the positive is we’re getting numbers in the box,” he said.
“We just have to be more clinical, and we have a few things to iron out.
“After a slow start in our pre-season it’s all starting to come together.”
Bellingen FC will look for three wins in a row to start the season when they take on the Sawtell Scorpions during Round 3 at Toormina Oval on Easter Monday.
