CPL Men Super Round moves to Coffs synthetics

The Coastal Premier League Men’s Super Round planned for this Saturday and Sunday at C.ex Coffs International Stadium will be moved to the Coffs Football Centre’s all-weather synthetic pitches due to forecast rain.

The Super Round sees all 12 men’s clubs play 12 first and reserve grade matches in one place for the first time. The Super Round was due to be played on Saturday and Sunday but will now be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

CPL Men is a combined men’s premier competition on the Coffs and mid-north coasts. The competition includes teams from Forster/Tuncurry, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Bellingen, Boambee, Sawtell, Coffs Harbour and Coffs northern beaches.

Football administrators were advised by Coffs Harbour City Council today that the stadium won’t be available if there’s any further rain between Tuesday and the weekend. As of 6 pm today, Tuesday, the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting rain of between 45 mm and 110 mm between today and Sunday evening. Coffs Airport has recorded 40 mm of rain in the past two days.

Given the scenario presented by the venue owner and the official forecast, administrators decided to switch venues well in advance to allow teams sufficient time to adjust.

The complete scenario for this weekend in Coffs Harbour is:

  • Coastal Premier League Men Super Round, involving 12 clubs, 24 teams and 12 matches, will now be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Coastal League One Women round one matches (two of them) will be played on either Friday and/or Sunday.
  • National Premier League Youth (North Coast v Valentine FC) remains unchanged, with matches at 1 pm and 3 pm on Sunday.

The revised schedule for the weekend will be announced on Wednesday night.

There will be no entry charge to the Coffs Football Centre. Those who have already purchased their tickets for the C.ex Coffs International Stadium have received a full refund.

North Coast Football and Football Mid-North Coast will cover the cost of hiring the Coffs Football Centre.
