THE THIRD Coastal Premier League season has kicked off with a big weekend of opening round matches at the Coffs Football Centre.
The opening round of games were moved to synthetics after ground closures due to the recent wet weather.
Bellingen FC made an impressive debut in their first ever Coastal Premier League game, beating Port Saints 5-1 to sit at the top of the table after Round 1.
Southern United also made their CPL debut a successful one, beating the Boambee Bombers 2-1 in their first ever game in the competition.
The Sawtell Scorpions also started their season on a winning note with a 3-1 victory against the Taree Wildcats.
Fresh off their continued run in the Australia Cup, the Coffs Coast Tigers began their CPL season by sharing the points in a 1-1 draw with Port United.
Both the Coffs City United Lions and Northern Strom had the opening round off, with their respective matches against the Kempsey Saints and Macleay Valley Rangers having to be postponed.
