Coffs City United was awarded the Premier’s Plate Saturday in a dramatic afternoon as the entire state plunged into lockdown.
Thirty minutes before kick-off at 3 pm on Saturday, all five CPL matches were postponed, allowing people already at venues sufficient time to get home.
Although there remains a full round and several postponed fixtures to play, Coffs United is in an unassailable position at the top of the table.
Undefeated in 2021, Coffs United is on 44 points, 12 points clear of second-placed Coffs Coast Tigers.
The Premier’s Plate goes to the team that finished top of the table following the completion of the regular season. A final series and grand final are scheduled for September.
Football Mid-North Coast Chairman, Mike Parsons, handed over the Premier’s Plate to Coffs United for the second year in a row before players and spectators headed home on Saturday afternoon.
The lockdown is in force until Saturday midnight. CPL administrators will announce the revised match schedule mid-week.
