Coffs City United has stretched their Coastal Premier League northern conference winning streak to three with a dominant 3-1 win over Boambee on Saturday.

The Lions were rarely troubled as they registered their first victory over the Bombers in two years and seven starts.

Martin Kelleher scored a brace while Scott Goddard also found the back of the net at Ayrshire Park.

Coach Glenn Williams admitted his side missed an extra couple of chances in the first half, but was pleased overall with the result.

“Our work rate was really impressive,” he said.

“When we lost the ball we worked really hard to get it back and when we had the ball we were working to be available.

“When someone had the ball he had two options to pass it to so we’re definitely fit which is good; the guys have put in a fair bit at training for that.”

The Lions don’t have too long to bask in the win with a catch-up fixture against Coffs Coast on Wednesday night scheduled as the games continue to come thick and fast.

“We definitely sung the song pretty loud and proud and we’re not going to get too carried away, but it’s a good bit of momentum,” Williams said.

“We’ve got a midweek game against Tigers on Wednesday and then Northern Storm on Saturday who are going well themselves.”

Elsewhere in the northern conference on Saturday, Northern Storm breezed past Coffs Coast Tigers 4-1 while Sawtell snuck home over North Coast 5-4 in a nine-goal thriller.
