Coastal Premier League to launch 4 July 2020

The inaugural season of the Coastal Premier League will kick off on this weekend, 4 and 5 July 2020, with ten teams taking part in five matches across the Coffs and mid-north coasts.

The competition will conclude on the weekend of 17/18 October 2020. There will be 18 rounds of competition where each side plays each other twice. Ten teams from Coffs Harbour, Kempsey, Port Macquarie and Taree will take part.

The CPL provides a pathway for talented players, coaches and match officials to compete and officiate at the highest level available outside the major metropolitan centres.

Due to scheduling constraints, the season will conclude with a premiership where the team placed highest on the ladder after 18 rounds of competition will be declared the winner.

A final series will be held in 2021 when more time is available.

News that the Taree Wildcats have taken up the tenth and last vacant position in the competition is a massive boost on the eve of the season start.

Teams were working hard up to March, and that continued individually during the lockdown.

Players are keen for the clubs to make a good first impression in this all-new competition.

Full credit to the players, coaches and clubs for their dedication during the lockdown.

We have high hopes for this competition, and we’re ready for it.
